Beer-Braised Beef Short Ribs

I tried this recipe and it was so good! I served it with a fruit salad, mashed potatoes(we put the left over sauce on the potatoes as gravy), and rolls.

My mom used to make a beer stew that was really good.

So... last week I tried making bbque short ribs. I am not very practiced at cooking short ribs. They weren't very good. I actually think that the ribs themselves weren't great. How do you pick a good set of ribs?
(the pack we had were given to us... so I shouldn't complain)

I don't think it's so much the type of ribs but the correct method of cooking for the ribs you chose. Short ribs are always the best braised first in my opinion. And I cut them in 2 inch sections. Other types of ribs I like to slow cook to tenderize them and then grill them and baste with more sauce but only for about 5-10 minutes. Yummy!!
